The Last Day...

Here it is. The final day. I know I haven't updated in a while, so this may seem out of place, but in all honesty I know that if I don't do this now I may never do it. This isn't necessarily my final post, but it will be my final post from the ship. Time has gone by so fast. It doesn't seem like it should be over. I feel that this is the point on the voayage where everyone is finally comfortable with life on the ship and we're all ready for another go around. To make us leave the ship is like jamming a wrench in our gears. It will completely devastate our way of life. I suppose I'm speaking in generalities, but this is at least how I feel. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm ungrateful or I don't want to see anybody again, it's just that this has been one of the best experiences in my life, and I'm never going to get it back. Even as I write this entry I feel like I'm wasting precious time I could be using saying goodbye to everyone I may never see again.
I'll probably write a really long entry tomorrow while I'm on the plane, so don't expect this to be the end quite yet.

On a side note, if you read my blog at all or are reading it right now, please make some sort of comment. I want to thank you for taking the time to read what I have to say, and I have no other way of knowing who you are unless you comment. Even if I don't know you, we can fix that, or if you want to remain anonymous, that's fine too. Just please comment either way. It'll make me happy :-)

Hey Thomas!
Thanks so much for keeping your blog during your trip. It sounds like you experienced something truly life-changing, and reading your posts helped inspire me to apply for Semester at Sea's Spring '09 voyage.
All the best with the return trip, have a fantastic summer break, and I can't wait to catch up with you in the fall!

Hi Thomas,

I've enjoyed reading your blog and keeping up with your adventures! My daughter Jamie is on the voyage, so it's been great to read your perspectives of the journey. And I loved the green and orange suits!

I've loved reading your blog Thomas, and I'm incredibly glad you've had such a good time, though Chapman's missed you!! Welcome (almost) back to the US.

oh thomas. i read your blog all the time. i got a little nervous sometimes when you didn't post for a while because i was afraid a lion ate you or something else ridiculous. thank you so much for writing and posting pictures and everything. i hope you don't have too hard a time adjusting back to being in the states...i can imagine that that must suck. sometimes i don't like being here much either. but you can see your family and AJ and stay with me over the summer! i can't wait to see you again :)

I've basically stalked all the blogs from SAS, and one thing I noticed was that any of the people I deemed on the trip for the right reasons (I'm sure you catch my drift) mentioned you at some point or another. Thank you for giving me a glimpse of the amazing adventures that await me, and I'll see you on campus next spring!

I've read your blog ever since you told me about it when I asked about China...I am definitely living vicariously through it! My dorm room in New York doesn't quite allow for the awesome adventures you've had. I don't know if you'll be in Colorado at all this summer...I won't be there much but I am sure you will be at my house sometime haha!
And you should tell me all the cool places to go in Shanghai! My orchestra leaves in two weeks.

Talk to you soon,
Megan G.

Thomas,
The whole Casey family in Santa Barbara enjoyed checking out your blog. We are quite impressed. Sounds like you had a wonderful experience and will remember it for a lifetime. Both of our boys will be at Chapman next year and I hope you take the time to talk to them about the trip. Welcome home.
Tim
